Hello there! I'm Nora, a Digital Design student in The New School/Parsons' Individualized Studies program. My roundabout path to a college degree has included a gap year studying Mandarin Chinese in Taiwan through the National Security Language Initiative, four semesters as a General Engineering/Industrial Design student at the University of Illinois, a semester traveling the world via ship as CY Tung Scholar on Semester at Sea, and four months gaining skills and experience in digital design as a UX/UI design student at DESIGNATION. I am currently completing my final semester of coursework at The New School while working as a freelance designer and a 3D lab and laser cutting assistant at The New School's Making Center.
Within design, I'm passionate about emerging technologies, self-directed learning and maker education, and using design to improve people's lives and the world we live in. When I'm not designing, I enjoy exploring new cultures, drinking fancy teas, eating Indian food, making people laugh, and exploring the many strange corners of New York City.
