Printmaking

PRINTMAKING

I first studied the art of printmaking an intern for Gallery 37 the summer after my senior year of high school under the direction of Jeff Maldonado and Denise Carrasco.  Through the apprenticeship, I gained skills in the linocut printmaking process (a process that is demonstrated in this short video: Linocut Adventure!) and learned about creating marketable work. During the second half of the apprenticeship, I was asked to make a series of prints centered around the theme of Chicago,  marketed towards tourists who came into the gallery which was located  down the block from Chicago's Millennium Park on Michigan and Randolph.

As I have further pursued linocut printmaking,  I have continued to enjoy exploring city and creating work focused on this theme and exploring new areas.
